This Privacy Policy explains how Kuro Ai ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information about you when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect three categories of information: information you provide directly (such as your email address when you create an account), information we receive automatically when you use the Service (such as device and usage data) and information from third parties (such as payment confirmation from our payment processor).
2. Account information
When you register we collect your email address, a hashed password and, optionally, a display name. We use this information to create and secure your account, communicate service updates and respond to support requests.
3. Conversation content
Messages you exchange with a Companion are stored so that the Service can provide memory and continuity across sessions. Conversation content is encrypted at rest and in transit. We do not sell conversation content and we do not use it to train third-party models.
4. Payment information
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store full card numbers on our servers; we receive only a token and limited transaction metadata required for accounting and fraud prevention.
5. Device and usage data
We collect basic technical information such as browser type, operating system, IP address, referring page and timestamps. This data helps us diagnose issues, prevent abuse and improve the Service.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management, and a small number of analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the Service.
7. How we use information
We use information to provide and operate the Service, personalise companion behaviour, process payments, communicate with you, protect against fraud and abuse, comply with legal obligations and improve the Service.
8. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data based on: performance of a contract with you, your consent (where required), our legitimate interests (such as preventing fraud and improving the Service) and compliance with legal obligations.
9. Sharing of information
We share personal data only with: service providers who process data on our behalf under contract (hosting, payment, email delivery, analytics), authorities when required by law and any successor entity in the event of a merger or acquisition. We do not sell personal data.
10. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.
11. Data retention
We retain account data and conversation history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law (for example for tax records).

We implement administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, audit logging and least-privilege practices. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Your rights

14. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have additional rights including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
15. Children
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
16. Third-party links
The Service may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
17. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you by additional means.
